SYNOPSIS

    Appropriates $15 million from "Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund" for grants to certain local government units to acquire noncontaminated portions of Ciba Geigy lands in Ocean County for recreation and conservation purposes.

An Act appropriating $15,000,000 from the "Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund" for the acquisition of certain lands for recreation and conservation purposes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1.    a. There is appropriated from the "Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund," established pursuant to section 19 of P.L.1999, c.152 (C.13:8C-19), to the Department of Environmental Protection the sum of $15,000,000 for the purpose of providing grants to Ocean County and any appropriate municipalities to acquire, for recreation and conservation purposes, the noncontaminated portions of the Ciba Geigy tract or tracts located in Ocean County.

    b.    The requirements and provisions of section 23 of P.L.1999, c.152 (C.13:8C-23) shall not apply to the appropriation made pursuant to subsection a. of this section.

 

    2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would appropriate $15 million from the "Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund" to the Department of Environmental Protection to provide grants to Ocean County and any appropriate municipalities to acquire, for recreation and conservation purposes, the noncontaminated portions of the Ciba Geigy tract or tracts located in Ocean County. That trust fund was established pursuant to the "Garden State Preservation Trust Act," P.L.1999, c.152 (C.13:8C-1 et seq.). The bill would exempt the appropriation made pursuant to the bill from certain requirements and provisions of the "Garden State Preservation Trust Act" concerning appropriations from the "Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund."
