SYNOPSIS

     Honors New Jersey’s military personnel.

An Assembly Resolution honoring the military men and women serving and defending the citizens of the United States.

 

Whereas, Thousands of New Jersey citizens in the United States Armed Forces, along with 8,300 members of the New Jersey National Guard, serve at home and around the world; and

Whereas, New Jersey’s 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, with 2,875 members, a Military Police Company and Water Purification and Chemical units will deploy to combat in Iraq in June 2008; and

Whereas, Members of the New Jersey National Guard and New Jersey citizens in the United States Armed Forces are making considerable personal sacrifice, including long separations from their families; and

Whereas, In addition to the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, the Military Police Company and the Water Purification and Chemical units, five other New Jersey National Guard units will be involved in upcoming deployments in support of Operations Iraq Freedom and Operations Enduring Freedom; and

Whereas, New Jersey’s National Guard has an embedded Training Team in Afghanistan, an A/2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion in Kuwait, a Security Forces Squadron Airmen of the 108th Air Refueling Wing returning from Baghdad, and in early 2009, the 1-150th Aviation Assault Battalion will be sending personnel and helicopters to Iraq; and

Whereas, The New Jersey National Guard and the New Jersey citizens in the United States Armed Forces continue to protect our lives at home and abroad and our country at the risk of losing their own lives, and some have made the supreme sacrifice in the defense of liberty around the world; and

Whereas, The people of New Jersey are eternally grateful for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and servicewomen, and their families, in defense of the American way of life; now, therefore,

 

     Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

      1.  The General Assembly of the New Jersey Legislature affirms its full support of New Jersey citizens serving in the United States Armed Forces and the New Jersey National Guard.  This House is proud of the sacrifices and bravery of all our military men and women and grateful for their heroic service to the United States of AmericaThis House looks forward to their safe and victorious return to their families and communities.

 

      2.   Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Governor, the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs, and each member of Congress elected from this State.

 

STATEMENT

 

     This Assembly resolution honors the thousands of men and women from New Jersey willingly serving and defending the citizens of the United States and making the supreme sacrifice in the defense of liberty around the world and in the protection of Americans at home and abroad.  For these sacrifices, the people of the State of New Jersey are eternally grateful to our dedicated servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
