SYNOPSIS

     Supports New Jersey National Guard.

An Assembly Resolution supporting the New Jersey National Guard. 

 

Whereas, The men and women of the New Jersey National Guard honorably serve this State; and

Whereas, New Jersey National Guard members have been called to federal active duty to help protect this nation and within the next few weeks, approximately 3,000 additional servicemen and women will be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, bringing the total deployment through January 2009 to 4,000; and

Whereas, The New Jersey National Guard already has an embedded Training Team in Afghanistan, an A/2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion in Kuwait, a Security Forces Squadron of the 108th Air Refueling Wing returning from Baghdad, and in early 2009, the 1-150th Aviation Assault Battalion will be sending personnel and helicopters to Iraq; and

Whereas, The members of the National Guard deserve the respect and support of the American people and the residents of this State; and

Whereas, This House recognizes the service provided by these brave men and women and the sacrifices they and their families have made, acknowledges the great debt of gratitude each resident of this State owes to these outstanding men and women, and honors them for courageous and exemplary service; and

Whereas, It is fitting and proper for this House, on behalf of the citizens of this State, to acknowledge their service and sacrifice, to express support and to wish our troops a safe return home to this State and their loved ones; now, therefore,

 

     Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  This House honors and supports the men and women of the New Jersey National Guard for their exemplary service.

 

     2.  Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Governor, the New Jersey Adjutant General, and to the commanders and other ranking officers of the New Jersey National Guard. 

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This Assembly Resolution recognizes and honors the men and women of the New Jersey National Guard for their selfless courage and service.  This House recognizes the service provided by these brave men and women, the sacrifices they and their families have made to provide such service and the great debt of gratitude each resident of this State owes to these outstanding men and women.  This House expresses its wish for these brave men and women to safely return home to this State and their loved ones from deployment overseas.
