Concerns removal of certain inmate information from DOC website.

An Act concerning information on DOC website and amending P.L.2009, c.328.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Section 9 of P.L.2009, c.328 (C.30:4-8.10) is amended to read as follows:
9. a. Whenever there is a change in the status of an inmate incarcerated in a State correctional facility which affects the visitation privileges of that inmate, the correctional facility shall immediately post that change of status on its website. This information shall remain on the website until those visitation rights have been restored.
b. If the change in status in visitation is due to the relocation of the inmate to another facility, the change shall be noted on the website of the facility from which the inmate has been transferred and shall remain on the website for two weeks. The posting shall include the name, address, telephone number, and website address of the facility to which the inmate has been transferred.
c. Whenever an inmate is released from a State correctional facility and ceases to be in the care or custody of the Department of Corrections, or completes a parole term, the Department of Corrections shall, within 30 days remove all information about the inmate from the Department of Corrections’ website.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
This bill requires the Department of Corrections to remove information about a person from its website, within 30 days after the person has been released from incarceration or completed a parole term.
The Department of Corrections website currently has information concerning inmates who have been released from incarceration.
