An Act concerning child care services at institutions of higher education and supplementing chapter 3B of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. An institution of higher education in the State which offers child care services to students enrolled in the institution shall not charge a student who receives a voucher under the “New Jersey Cares for Kids Program” established pursuant to N.J.A.C.10:15-5.1 an amount for the child care services that exceeds the amount of the program voucher.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
This bill provides that an institution of higher education in the State, which offers child care services to students enrolled in the institution, may not charge a student who receives a voucher under the New Jersey Cares for Kids (NJCK) Program an amount for the child care services that exceeds the amount of the program voucher.
The NJCK Program, under regulations promulgated by the Commissioner of Human Services at N.J.A.C.10:15-5.1 et seq., provides eligible families with necessary child care services through the Child Care Resource & Referral Agency in the county where the family resides. A family is eligible for the program if the family meets certain income guidelines.
