ASSEMBLYMAN DAVID C. RUSSO (Chairman): Now I would like to open the public hearing with regard to ACR-102, by Assemblyman Geist and Assemblyman Carroll, which amends the State Constitution to permit mentally competent persons to voluntarily waive certain post-conviction procedures in death penalty cases.
The hearing is now open to the public. Are there any witnesses to testify? (no response)
I have no statements. Seeing none, are there any comments-- The sponsor-- Well, I know that Assemblyman Geist is not here, he is at a hearing. Assemblyman Carroll, one of the sponsors, is here. We acknowledge your presence.
I don't see any comments from the Committee members, and with that in mind, I would close the meeting to the public.
Thank you.
