The Senate Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 1614.
As amended, this bill creates the New Jersey Civilian Honor Guard Ribbon to be presented by the Governor in the name of the State of New Jersey to certain persons who have served as buglers at military funeral services.
The buglers perform at military funerals to honor veterans during funeral services. Determination of eligibility for a Civilian Honor Guard Ribbon will be the responsibility of the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs. At a minimum, each bugler will be certified by the Department and each bugler will supply the department with official documentation for each performance.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS
The committee amended the bill to require, at a minim, that each bugler be certified by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and that each bugler supply the department with official documentation for each performance.
