ASSEMBLY REGULATED PROFESSIONS COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 4612

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  MARCH 7, 2019

The Assembly Regulated Professions Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill 4612.

This bill codifies an existing regulation that requires the land surveyor licensure examination to include a New Jersey State-specific portion.

The bill amends P.L.1938, c.342, the law regulating the practices of professional engineering and land surveying.  Under the bill, to be eligible for licensure as a land surveyor, a person must successfully complete an examination which includes a New Jersey State-specific portion to assess the extent of the applicant's more advanced and specialized professional training and experience in the field of land surveying.

Currently, N.J.A.C.13:40-2.7 requires an applicant for a land surveyor license to successfully complete a four-part examination consisting of: (1) fundamentals of land surveying; (2) principles and practices of land surveying; (3) the New Jersey State-specific examination; and (4) the New Jersey law portion.
