SYNOPSIS

     Requires Chief Technology Officer to establish “Anti-Hunger Link” for all State websites, providing information on emergency food services.

An Act concerning emergency food services and supplementing Title 30 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.   The 2State2 Chief Technology Officer of the 2New Jersey2 Office of Information Technology 2[in, but not of, the Department of the Treasury]2, in consultation with the Commissioner of Human Services and the 2[Commissioner] Secretary2 of Agriculture, shall establish 1and maintain1 an “Anti-Hunger Link” on the official website of every State executive department.  The link shall direct the website user to a dedicated Internet 1[page listing] webpage that lists1 all of the emergency food programs in the State, including, but not limited to, emergency meal providers, food pantries, soup kitchens, child and senior feeding programs, faith-based anti-hunger initiatives, and other food programs. 

     b.    The 2State2 Chief Technology Officer of the 2New Jersey2 Office of Information Technology 2[in, but not of, the Department of the Treasury]2, in consultation with the 1[Commissioner] 2[Commissioners1] Commissioner2 of Human Services and 1[the Commissioner of]1 2Secretary of2 Agriculture, shall 1establish and1 maintain 1[and update]1 the 1[“Anti-Hunger Link” and] dedicated1 emergency food program 1[website established pursuant to] webpage described in1 subsection a. of this section1; however, as deemed by the Chief Technology Officer to be appropriate, in consultation with the 2[Commissioners] Commissioner2 of Human Services and 2the Secretary of2 Agriculture, the dedicated emergency food program webpage may be established, hosted, and maintained by a nonprofit organization, pursuant to an agreement that is entered into between the Department of the Treasury and the nonprofit organization.

      c.    The “Anti-Hunger Link” and dedicated emergency food program webpage established under this section shall be regularly updated,1 on a schedule to be determined by the Chief Technology Officer. 

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the first day of the seventh month next following enactment, except that the 2State2 Chief Technology Officer of the 2New Jersey2 Office of Information Technology may take any anticipatory administrative action in advance as shall be necessary for the implementation of this act.
