     Requires employers and multiple dwelling unit owners to maintain liability insurance policies.

An Act requiring liability insurance for employers and multiple dwelling unit owners and supplementing chapter 15 of Title 34 of the Revised Statutes and P.L.1967, c.76 (C.55:13A-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Any employer subject to the “employers’ liability insurance law,” R.S.34:15-70 et seq., shall maintain a policy of general liability insurance for negligent acts in an amount of no less than $500,000 for combined property damage and bodily injury to or death of one or more persons in any one accident or occurrence.

 

     2.    The owner of a multiple dwelling unit shall maintain a policy of general liability insurance for negligent acts in an amount of no less than $500,000 for combined property damage and bodily injury to or death of one or more persons in any one accident or occurrence.

 

     3.    This act shall take effect on the 90th day next following enactment.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires employers that are subject to the “employers’ liability insurance law” and owners of multiple dwelling units to maintain policies of general liability insurance for negligent acts in an amount of no less than $500,000 for combined property damage and bodily injury to or death of one or more persons in any one accident or occurrence.
