ASSEMBLY EDUCATION COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
SENATE, No. 2714
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: NOVEMBER 26, 2018
The Assembly Education Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 2714.
This bill provides that if a board of education determines, pursuant to a tenure charge finding under N.J.S.18A:6-10 or a disorderly person conviction under section 7 of P.L.1971, c.437 (C.9:6-8.14), that a teaching staff member has failed to report an allegation of child abuse in accordance with State law or regulations, the board of education must submit a report to the State Board of Examiners that outlines its finding. The State Board of Examiners will review the certification of the teaching staff member to determine if the failure to report warrants the revocation or suspension of his certificate.
As reported by the committee, this bill is identical to Assembly Bill No. 4408, which also was reported by the committee on this same date.
