SYNOPSIS

     Authorizes display of flashing amber warning lights on fuel transportation vehicles.

An Act authorizing the display of amber warning lights on certain vehicles and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  a.  A fuel transportation vehicle, as that term is defined in section 2 of P.L.2010, c.22 (C.54:39-102), bearing a commercial registration may display flashing amber warning lights of a type approved by the chief administrator while engaged in the transportation of fuel, as that term is defined in section 2 of P.L.2010, c.22 (C.54:39-102).

     b.    P.L.    , c.      (C.     ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill) shall not be construed to grant any person displaying flashing amber warning lights pursuant to this section any privileges or exemptions denied to the drivers of other motor vehicles and a person displaying flashing amber warning lights pursuant to this section shall drive with due regard for the safety of all persons and shall obey the traffic laws of this State.

     c.     The chief administrator shall promulgate rules and regulations, pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), to effectuate the purposes of this act.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill permits the display of flashing amber warning lights by certain fuel transportation vehicles.  Under the bill, a fuel transportation vehicle displaying flashing amber warning lights is required to bear a commercial registration and be engaged in the transportation of fuel.
