SENATE HEALTH, HUMAN SERVICES AND SENIOR CITIZENS COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION No. 70

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  NOVEMBER 14, 2019

The Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee reports favorably Senate Joint Resolution No. 70.

NUT carcinoma is a rare, aggressive form of cancer that is resistant to standard cancer treatments and is usually fatal.  This joint resolution permanently designates the month of January as “NUT Carcinoma Awareness Month” in the State of New Jersey in order to raise public awareness about this aggressive form of cancer and the new treatment regimens that are improving survival rates, and to honor the inspiring life of Benjamin Landel whose generosity led him to help others who were undergoing their own battles with cancer.  The resolution respectfully requests that the Governor issue an annual proclamation calling upon public officials and the citizens of the State to observe the month with appropriate activities and programs.

As reported by the committee, Senate Joint Resolution No. 70 is identical to Assembly Joint Resolution No. 103, which was also reported by the committee on this date.
