SENATE MILITARY AND VETERANS' AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE RESOLUTION No. 11

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  JANUARY 25, 2018

The Senate Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee reports favorably Senate Resolution No. 11.

This House urges Congress to support the “Disabled Veterans Commissary and Exchange Store Benefits Act” by extending military commissary and exchange store privileges to veterans with a compensable service-connected disability and their dependents.

Online shopping access will be available to veterans who received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.  The benefit will be available to members of the National Guard and veterans of the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, as well as their Reserve components, who have a compensable service-connected disability.  This benefit only permits the veterans to shop online commissaries, not at the physical commissaries located on bases.

This resolution was pre-filed for introduction in the 2018-2019 session pending technical review.  As reported, the resolution includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
