ASSEMBLY, No. 1564

      The Assembly Agriculture Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 1564.

      This bill revises the equine animal activities law to codify the recommendations of the New Jersey Law Revision Commission in its “Equestrian Activities Liability Act” report, issued in May 2014.  Specifically, the revisions address the ambiguities or conflicts between

the broad language of the inherent risks of an equine animal activity identified in current law, and the broad language used to describe the acts on the part of the operator of an equine animal activity that can result in the imposition of liability pursuant to current law. 

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 2020-2021 session pending technical review.  As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
