ASSEMBLY, No. 4517

with Assembly Floor Amendments

(Proposed by Assemblywoman REYNOLDS-JACKSON)

ADOPTED: JUNE 21, 2021

      These Assembly amendments:

      (1)  change the eligibility for the program from minority applicants to applicants residing in a municipality with a median income at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level;

      (2)  require that the program be expanded to minority candidates if the results of a disparity study demonstrate particularized findings of past discrimination;

      (3)  require that the program be designed to provide a mentor to an applicant for the duration of the exam cycle, until the mentee completes the hiring process; and

      (4) change the effective date from 6 to 18 months following enactment.
