STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

ASSEMBLY, No. 4907

with Senate Floor Amendments

(Proposed by Senator CRYAN)

ADOPTED: DECEMBER 17, 2020

These Senate amendments to the Assembly Committee Substitute for Assembly Bill No. 4907 appropriate $58,000,000 to the Department of Law and Public Safety toward Grants-in-Aid to establish a New Jersey Statewide Body Worn Camera (BWC) program to support police departments in purchasing this equipment.

As reported by the Assembly Appropriations Committee, this committee substitute had established a process for negotiating and bidding on contracts for BWCs and made a supplemental appropriation.  These Senate amendments remove from the Assembly Committee Substitute provisions relating to contractual negotiations, but preserve the $58,000,000 supplemental appropriation.

These Senate amendments to the Assembly Committee Substitute for Assembly Bill No. 4907 make the committee substitute identical to  the Senate Committee Substitute for Senate Bill No. 3089 (1R).
