with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

      The Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly No. 5853.

     As amended, this bill requires the administrator and assistant administrator at a State veterans’ memorial home to have prior work experience in a clinical setting.  Under the bill, “clinical” means directly pertaining to the observation, diagnosis, treatment, or rehabilitation of an individual in a hospital, long-term care facility, rehabilitation center, or other similar facility and not through research.

     Currently, the three State veterans’ memorial homes are the following: the New Jersey Veterans' Memorial Home-Menlo Park; the New Jersey Veterans' Memorial Home-Vineland, and the New Jersey Veterans' Memorial Home-Paramus.

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS

      The committee amended the bill to update the name of the division, and to remove duties for which the division is no longer responsible.
