SYNOPSIS

     Provides project grants under “Securing Our Children’s Future Fund” for career and technical education expansion in county vocational school districts; appropriates $222,904,769.

An Act concerning project grants under the “Securing Our Children’s Future Fund” for career and technical education expansion in the State’s county vocational school districts and making an appropriation.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  a.  There is appropriated from the “Securing Our Children’s Future Fund,” established pursuant to section 13 of P.L.2018, c.119, to the Department of Education the sum of $220,154,769 to provide grants for career and technical education expansion in the State’s county vocational school districts.  Project grants shall be approved in the amounts set forth in subsection b. of this section.

b.  Project grants shall be awarded in the amounts as follows:

(1)      $40,000,000 to the Atlantic County Vocational School District

  in Atlantic County;

(2)      $5,250,000 to the Camden County Technical School District for a project at the district’s campus in Gloucester Township, Camden County;

(3)      $6,750,000 to the Camden County Technical School District for a project at the district’s campus in Pennsauken, Camden  County;

(4)      $4,299,141 to the Cape May County Technical High School District in Cape May County;

(5)      $2,250,000 to the Cumberland County Board of Vocational Education in Cumberland County;

(6)      $12,000,000 to the Gloucester County Vocational-Technical School District in Gloucester County;

(7)      $15,000,000 to the Hunterdon County Vocational School

District in Hunterdon County;

     (8)   $23,137,500 to the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School District in Middlesex County;

     (9)   $7,215,805 to the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District in Ocean County;

     (10)  $17,250,000 to the Somerset County Vocational and Technical School District in Somerset County;

     (11)  $5,333,377 to the Union County Vocational-Technical School District for a project at the district’s campus at Peterson Farm Park in Union County;

     (12)  $3,954,094 to the Union County Vocational-Technical School District at the district’s Union County Vocational-Technical School District main campus in Union County;

     (13)  $25,875,000 to the Bergen County Vocational Technical School District in Bergen County;

     (14)  $9,930,113 to the Hudson County Schools of Technology School District in Hudson County;

     (15)  $18,596,246 to the Morris County Vocational School District in Morris County;

     (16)  $18,552,976 to the Passaic County Vocational School District in Passaic County; and

     (17)  $4,760,517 to the Sussex County Technical School District in Sussex County.

 

     2.  There is appropriated from the “Securing Our Children’s Future Fund” to the Department of Education the sum of $2,750,000 for the administrative costs of the agency in implementing current and future grants for eligible projects pursuant to the provisions of the “Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act,” P.L.2018, c.119.

 

     3.  The expenditure of sums appropriated by this act shall be subject to the provisions and conditions of the “Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act,” P.L.2018, 119.

 

     4.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill appropriates a total of $222,904,769 from the “Securing Our Children’s Future Fund.” Under the bill, $220,154,769 is appropriated for career and technical education expansion in the State’s county vocational school districts.  The bill also appropriates $2,750,000 to the Department of Education for the administration of the “Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act.”
