SYNOPSIS

     Requires Chief Administrator of MVC to promulgate rules on certain LED lights on motor vehicles.

An Act concerning certain lights used on motor vehicles and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission shall promulgate rules and regulations governing the use of light-emitting diode (LED) lighting bars on motor vehicles that are not used for public safety, law enforcement, construction, or other similar purposes.  The rules and regulations shall specify the appropriate use of an LED lighting bar on motor vehicles, specifications for the location, luminosity, and size of an LED lighting bar, and any other requirements that the chief administrator deems appropriate, including the establishment of a permit process if the chief administrator so determines.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to promulgate rules and regulations governing the use of LED lighting bars on motor vehicles that are not used for public safety, law enforcement, construction, or other similar purposes.
