SYNOPSIS

     Requires parent or guardian to notify child care centers if child will be absent; requires child care centers to notify parent or guardian in event of unexcused child absence.

An Act concerning communication between parents and licensed child care centers and supplementing P.L.1983, c.492 (C.30:5B-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.   Whenever a child who is enrolled in a child care center licensed pursuant to P.L.1983, c.492 (C.30:5B-1 et seq.) will be absent from the child care center, the child’s parent or guardian shall notify the sponsor of the child care center or the sponsor’s designee.

     b.    If a child who is enrolled in a licensed child care center is determined to be absent without notification from the child’s parent or guardian, and if the reason for the child's absence is unknown to child care center staff, the sponsor of the child care center or the sponsor’s designee shall immediately attempt to contact the child's parent or guardian to notify the parent or guardian of the absence and to determine the reason for the absence.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.
