ASSEMBLY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 818

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  MARCH 17, 2021

The Assembly State and Local Government Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 818.

This bill would permit certain proposed county ordinances to be sent to the clerk of each municipality in the county by regular mail or by electronic mail. Current law requires that a copy of a proposed county ordinance issued by the board of freeholders in an optional county charter county be sent by regular mail to the clerk of each municipality in the county. This bill would permit the use of electronic mail to provide a more efficient means of providing municipalities with copies of proposed county ordinances.

This bill is identical to Assembly Bill No. 2284, also reported by the committee on this date.
