STATE OF NEW JERSEY

The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 2388.
As amended and reported by the committee, this bill provides that, notwithstanding any law, regulation, or rule to the contrary, individuals in this State are to be authorized to undergo testing for the coronavirus disease 2019 or antibodies from the coronavirus disease 2019 that has been approved by or received emergency use authorization from the federal Food and Drug Administration, including, but not limited to, self-collection of testing specimens, the use of mail-order laboratory testing services, the use of home testing kits, and the use of laboratories that have federal approval but are not otherwise licensed in New Jersey. The results of any testing conducted in accordance with the provisions of this bill are to be entered into the Department of Health’s communicable disease reporting and surveillance system and sent to the tested individual and to the health care professional who authorized the test.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:
The committee amendments make technical changes as to syntax, including a technical change to the synopsis, and approve testing that has received emergency use authorization from the federal Food and Drug Administration.
