ASSEMBLY HEALTH COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
SENATE, No. 2467
with committee amendments
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JUNE 23, 2020
The Assembly Health Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 2467.
As amended, this bill extends the applicability of P.L.2020, c.3, which expanded the use of telemedicine and telehealth services for the duration of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency, and the applicability of P.L.2020, c.7, which requires health benefits coverage for COVID-19 testing and health care services provided using telemedicine and telehealth for the duration of the COVID-19 state of emergency and public health emergency, to provide that the provisions of both laws will continue until 90 days after the end of both the state of emergency and the public health emergency declared in response to COVID-19. The bill also adds a reference to the COVID-19 state of emergency to P.L.2020, c.3, to ensure the scope of its provisions are consistent with the provisions of P.L.2020, c.7.
As reported by the committee, Senate Bill No. 2467 is identical to Assembly Bill No. 4215 which was reported by the committee on this date.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:
The committee amendments provide that the Commissioner of Human Services is to receive federal approval for State plan amendments or waivers prior to the implementation of the bill’s provisions.
