SYNOPSIS

     Provides temporary extension of certain documents issued by MVC.

An Act providing temporary extension of certain documents issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  Notwithstanding R.S.39:3-10, R.S.39:3-13, section 6 of P.L.1977, c.25 (C.39:3-13.2a), section 4 of P.L.1980, c.47 (C.39:3-29.5), R.S.39:3-4, section 1 of P.L.1969, c.301 (C.39:3-4b), section 2 of P.L.1969, c.301 (C.39:3-4c), R.S.39:8-2, or any other law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, any of the following documents due to expire on March 1, 2020 or May 31, 2020, or between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020 shall not expire until December 31, 2020:

     a.     basic driver’s license,

     b.    examination permit,

     c.     special learner’s permit,

     d.    probationary driver’s license,

     e.     identification card,

     f.     passenger automobile registration certificate,

     g.    passenger automobile temporary registration certificate, and

     h.    passenger automobile inspection certificate or sticker.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire on January 1, 2021.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill extends the expiration date of any basic driver’s license, examination permit, special learner’s permit, probationary driver’s license, identification card, passenger automobile registration certificate, passenger automobile temporary registration certificate, and passenger automobile inspection certificate or sticker that was due to expire on March 1, 2020 or May 31, 2020 or between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

     The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission previously extended these documents to September 30, 2020.
