SYNOPSIS

     Appropriates $10 million in federal funds to Department of Agriculture to support food bank organizations.

A Supplement to the Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations act, P.L.2020, c.97.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

      1.   In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2020, c.97, the annual appropriations act for Fiscal Year 2021, and upon certification by the Director of the Division of Budget and Accounting in the Department of the Treasury that federal funds to support the expenditures listed below are available, the following sum is appropriated:

Coronavirus Relief Fund – Assistance to Food Bank Organizations...............

($10,000,000)

 

 

The amount hereinabove appropriated for Coronavirus Relief Fund – Assistance to Food Bank Organizations shall be allocated from a portion of those federal block grant funds allocated to the State from the “Coronavirus Relief Fund,” established pursuant to the federal “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act,” Pub.L.116-136.

 

1[The] Of the1 amount hereinabove appropriated for Coronavirus Relief Fund – Assistance to Food Bank Organizations 1$9,900,0001 shall be allocated as follows:  the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, $5,200,000; the Food Bank of South Jersey, $1,500,000; Fulfill Monmouth & Ocean, $1,500,000; Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, $1,100,000; Norwescap, $300,000; 1and1 Southern Regional Food Distribution Center, $300,000 1[; and Farmers Against Hunger, $100,000] 1.

 

1Of the amount hereinabove appropriated for Coronavirus Relief Fund – Assistance to Food Bank Organizations, $100,000 shall be allocated to the New Jersey Agricultural Society - Farmers Against Hunger Program to support the collection and distribution of excess food from farms, markets, and other entities to organizations that provide food to persons in need.1

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.
