SENATE, No. 3904

The Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Bill No. 3904.
Under current law, a family member or other person may be appointed as the guardian of a veteran residing in a Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs (DMVA) memorial home.
As amended, this bill requires the Division of Veterans’ Healthcare Services in the DMVA to ensure that each veterans’ memorial home communicates updates to each veteran’s guardian, and each person otherwise having the veteran’s power of attorney, through a minimum of two communication means, which must include regular mail, email, text message, and voice.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS
The committee amended the bill to update the name of the division that will carry out the duties as specified in the bill.
