SYNOPSIS

     Appropriates $150,000 to Shri Krishna Nidhi Foundation to support health services for certain State residents with past or current COVID-19 diagnosis.

A Supplement to the Fiscal Year 2022 annual appropriations act, P.L.2021, c.133.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2021, c.133, the annual appropriations act for Fiscal Year 2022, there is appropriated from the General Fund the following amount for the purpose specified:

 

46 DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

20 Physical and Mental Health

21 Health Services

 

GRANTS-IN-AID

05-4285  Community Health Services.................................... $150,000

                 Total Grants-in-Aid Appropriation,                                      

                   Health Services .................................................... $150,000

Grants-in-Aid:

         05    Shri Krishna Nidhi Foundation............... ($150,000)

 

The amount hereinabove appropriated for Shri Krishna Nidhi Foundation shall be used by the organization to support staffing and administrative costs related to identifying individuals of South Asian descent who require support due to a past or current COVID-19 diagnosis, connecting these individuals with appropriate medical care, and supporting the sociocultural needs of these individuals.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill appropriates $150,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Health for Shri Krishna Nidhi Foundation.  The appropriation is to support staffing and administrative costs related to identifying individuals of South Asian descent who require support due to a past or current COVID-19 diagnosis, connecting these individuals with appropriate medical care, and supporting the sociocultural needs of these individuals.

     Shri Krishna Nidhi Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to reduce health disparities and improve health equity through community education initiatives.  One of the organization’s current initiatives is addressing the disparity in care for New Jersey residents of South Asian descent who experience COVID-19 complications.
