An Act authorizing a municipality to impose a fee on public golf course users and supplementing chapter 48 of Title 40 of the Revised Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, the governing body of a municipality may adopt an ordinance imposing a daily fee of up to $1 for each person who uses a public golf course that is located within the municipality. The person who manages the golf course shall collect this fee from each person using the golf course and shall remit the monies collected, on not less than a quarterly basis, to the municipality in a manner specified in the ordinance. The fee may be imposed on the users of a public golf course owned by the State, county, or municipality, or any authority, agency, department, or other entity thereof.

    The monies collected by the municipality from the fee imposed pursuant to this section may be used by the municipality for any purpose for which tax revenues of the municipality may be expended.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill authorizes a municipality to impose a daily fee of up to $1.00 for each person who uses a public golf course located within the municipality. The monies raised may be used by the municipality for any of its general purposes. The fees will be collected by the manager of the public golf course and remitted to the municipality. The bill applies to any publicly owned State, county, or municipal golf course.
