An Act concerning off-tariff public utility rates and alternative forms of regulation, and amending P.L.1995, c. (now awaiting action by the Governor as Senate Bill No. 1940 [1R]).

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

    1. Section 6 of P.L.1995, c. (C. ) (now awaiting action by the Governor as Senate Bill No. 1940 [1R]) is amended to read as follows:

    6. The Board of Public Utilities shall submit a report to the Legislature on the implementation of this act [on December 1 of the third year following the effective date of this act and every four years thereafter] one year after its effective date and annually thereafter . This report shall include the status of any investigations of programs to implement a restructuring of the electric power industry.

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

    This bill would require that the Board of Public Utilities report on the implementation of electric utility flex rates and alternative forms of rate regulation for gas and electric utilities on an annual basis. The current requirement is for the board to report in three years and then every four years thereafter.

Requires annual reports on off-tariff public utility rates and alternative forms of regulation.
