with Assembly Floor Amendments

ADOPTED: MAY 6, 1996

      These amendments would increase from 36 months to 60 months the period during which laid-off law enforcement officers are eligible, and accorded preference, for reemployment appointments under the State's special Statewide law enforcement program. The amendments also make a technical change to the bill by including the word "and" after paragraph (1) of subsection a. of section 1 of the bill.

      These amendments are necessary to conform the version of section 1 of P.L.1991, c.299 (C.40A:14-180) contained in the bill with changes to that law as a result of the enactment of P.L.1996, c.13.
