ASSEMBLY, No. 309

      The Assembly State Government Committee reports favorably Assembly, No. 309.

      This bill amends the provisions of the civil service statute that prescribes those positions in political subdivisions that are to be included within the unclassified service. The bill adds to the existing class of "political subdivision unclassified service" positions the following positions in volunteer fire districts:

      (1) The district's executive director and assistant executive director, or the director of administration and assistant director of administration, as the case may be; and

      (2) One secretary, clerk, or confidential assistant to each such director and assistant director.

      This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
