An Act requiring the Department of Transportation to study the safety of overpasses on roads under its jurisdiction.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. The Department of Transportation shall conduct a study of overpasses on the roads under its jurisdiction to determine the condition of the overpasses and existing safety measures, and shall compile a falling-object incident report. The department shall report these findings along with any recommendations to increase the safety of overpasses to the Governor and the Legislature within nine months of the effective date of this act.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

    This bill would require the Department of Transportation to conduct a study of overpasses on the roads under its jurisdiction to determine the condition of the overpasses and existing safety measures. The department would also be required to compile a falling-object incident report. The department would be required to report its findings along with any recommendations to increase the safety of overpasses to the Governor and the Legislature within nine months of the effective date of this act.
