STATE OF NEW JERSEY

The Assembly Education Committee favorably reports Assembly Bill No. 356 with committee amendments.
As amended by committee, this bill prohibits teaching staff members from using any visual aid or instructing any student on the methods used to make any destructive device as that term is defined in N.J.S.2C:39-1. The bill further prohibits teachers from permitting any student to view any visual aid or receive information that demonstrates the methods used to make any destructive device. The bill provides that any person violating its provisions is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree. A crime of the fourth degree is punishable by a fine of up to $7,500, 18 months imprisonment, or both.
The committee amended the bill to delete the term explosives within the bill and to insert the term destructive device as defined in N.J.S.2C:39-1.
This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
