      The Assembly Transportation and Communications Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 56.

      This bill increases the fine that may be imposed for a violation concerning the installation and maintenance of motor vehicle equipment. It raises the general penalty for equipment violations from the current maximum fine of $25 to a minimum fine of $50 and a maximum of $1,000. The fine for equipment violations has not been increased for more than 50 years.
