      The Assembly Senior Issues, Tourism and Gaming Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 619.

      This bill adds instruction on compulsive gambling to the public school educational program on the nature and effects of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and controlled dangerous substances. The bill requires the inclusion of material on the physiological, psychological, sociological and legal aspects of compulsive gambling in the program's curriculum guidelines which are developed by the Commissioner of Education.

      This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
