      The Assembly Commerce and Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 638.

      As reported, this bill amends section 2 of P.L.1988, c.136 (C.13:17-14.1) to change the requirements as to when the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission (HMDC) must notify concerned municipalities of plans for development in the district. Under the bill, the HMDC would notify the governing body of the affected municipality or municipalities and any municipality immediately adjacent thereto of applications for development involving the construction of a new building or for an addition to an existing building in excess of 10,000 square feet.

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
