      The Assembly Judiciary Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 644.

      This bill would impose mandatory penalties on a juvenile adjudicated delinquent for an act which, if committed by an adult, would constitute the crime of promoting gambling in violation of N.J.S.2C:37-2. The bill provides that the juvenile would be required to perform at least 100 hours of community service to be served over a 20-week period, and would lose or have his driver's license postponed for at least one year.

      This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
