ASSEMBLY ENVIRONMENT, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
ASSEMBLY, No. 811
with committee amendments
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: MARCH 20, 1997
The Assembly Environment, Science and Technology Committee favorably reports Assembly Bill No. 811 with committee amendments.
The bill, as amended, would authorize the use of liquefied petroleum gas as an alternative fuel for school buses instead of, in addition to, or in combination with conventional gasoline or diesel fuel. The use of liquefied petroleum gas as an alternative fuel for school buses would be allowed only if certain accepted standards are employed.
The committee amendments make technical corrections to the bill and delete the provision providing immunity to school bus owners and operators, as well as governmental entities, from liability for any injuries or damages that may be either directly or indirectly attributable to the use of liquefied petroleum gas as an alternative fuel for school buses. The committee amendments make the bill identical to Senate Bill No. 302 (1R) of 1996.
