STATEMENT

The bill appropriates $5,120,000 in Capital Construction funds to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to finance the dredging of Imlaystown Lake in Upper Freehold, Monmouth County. The lake, which is owned by the State through the DEP, requires dredging in order to restore it as a viable recreational, scenic, and emergency fire protection resource. The DEP recently completed a State-supported project that involved the reconstruction of the lake's dam and bridge.

The cost of the project is based on a study prepared by the Monmouth County Water Resources Association, the County Park System, and the County Engineers Office. The study's findings, which recommend a wet excavation method of dredging, have been accepted by the Monmouth County Board of Recreation Commissioners.
