An Act concerning bail and supplementing Title 2A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, whenever a defendant 1charged with a first or second degree crime1 is released on bail or otherwise discharged prior to disposition of 1[a] the1 criminal matter 1,1 the prosecuting agency, if requested in writing by the chief of police, shall notify the chief of police or his designee of the municipality where the crime occurred.

 

    2. This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

 

Requires police in municipality where crime occurred be notified when a defendant is released on bail if request is made in writing.
