The Assembly State Government Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly, No.890.
This bill provides that a permanent State employee who is offered the opportunity, in lieu of layoff, to transfer to the same or a comparable position or to accept demotion to a lower title within the layoff unit shall have at least 24 hours during which to decide whether to accept a particular transfer or demotion.
This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS
The committee adopted amendments to the bill as referred to the committee to reduce the period of time allowed a laid-off employee to decide whether to accept transfer or demotion from 48 to 24 hours.
