An Act concerning license plates for amateur radio operators and amending P.L.1968, c.247.

 

    Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

    1. Section 1 of P.L.1968, c.247, (C.39:3-27.5) is amended to read as follows:

    1. The Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles shall cause to be issued to applicants who hold amateur radio licenses issued by the Federal Communications Commission, registration plates for motor vehicles owned or leased by the applicants bearing the term "amateur radio" and the amateur radio call letters of the respective applicants. 1[Where such call letters consist of less than [six letters] seven characters, the] The1 director, upon request, shall cause to be issued duplicate plates, with such marks as the director may deem appropriate to distinguish them from the original plates, for any additional motor vehicle which an applicant may register.

    2. Section 2 of P.L.1968, c.247 (C.39:3-27.6) is amended to read as follows:

    2. Application for registration of such motor vehicles and for the issuance of such amateur radio call letter registration plates shall be made in such form and accompanied by such proof as the director shall prescribe. An additional fee of[$10.00] $15 shall be paid for the issuance or replacement of any such plates.

    3. This act shall take effect 1[immediately] on the 31st day after enactment1.

 

Provides for license plates identifying amateur radio operators.
