LEGISLATIVE FISCAL ESTIMATE TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 1085

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: May 1, 1996

Assembly Bill No. 1085 of 1996 directs the Department of Environmental Protection to prepare and distribute informational materials regarding open space preservation to local planning boards and environmental commissions. The bill also directs the department to make these materials available, for the cost of reproduction and postage, to any other interested party. The types of information referred to in the bill encompass land preservation techniques permitted by law, fundraising methods, and data on successful programs in other jurisdictions.

The Office of Legislative Services estimates that the department would require no additional funding to develop and distribute the materials described in the bill. These services, which are already carried out to a certain degree, could be handled well within the existing budgets of the department's public information and appropriate program units.

The legislative fiscal estimate has been produced by the Office of Legislative Services due to the failure of the Executive Branch to respond to our request for a fiscal note.

This fiscal estimate has been prepared pursuant to P.L.1980, c.67.
