      The Assembly State Government Committee reports favorably Assembly, No. 1148.

  This bill directs the New Jersey Law Revision Commission to arrange for and supervise a recompilation of the general and permanent statutory law of this State into a single document which will be presented to the Legislature by December 31, 1999.

      Under the bill, the commission would (1) prepare the specifications for such a recompilation after soliciting proposals from qualified law publishers, (2) solicit and receive bids from qualified law publishers for the contract to perform the recompilation and to publish the recompiled statutes, and (3) award a contact for the project, based on "the sale price from completed annotated sets of the recompiled statutes" and other relevant factors, no later December 31, 1996.

       This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 1996 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
