ASSEMBLY, No. 1164

with Assembly Floor Amendments

(Proposed By Assemblyman COHEN)

ADOPTED: MAY 22, 1997

These amendments restore the bill to its original form to provide that it would be an unlawful practice for any retail mercantile establishment to advertise merchandise for sale indicating the availability of a manufacturer's rebate by displaying the net price of the item of merchandise, unless the amount of the manufacturer's rebate is provided to the consumer by the retailer at the time of purchase of the advertised item.
