ASSEMBLY COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
ASSEMBLY, No. 1211
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JANUARY 29, 1996
The Assembly Community Services Committee favorably reports an Assembly Committee Substitute for Assembly Bill No. 1211.
This substitute would expand the enforcement powers of the Probation Division of the Superior Court which is responsible for enforcing child support orders in the State.
The substitute allows for the suspension or revocation of any license, registration or certificate issued by the State that is directly necessary to provide a product or service for compensation, or to operate a motor vehicle for nonpayment of child support. The licenses would be restored once an individual becomes current on child support payments and a regular schedule has been established. If an obligor defaults on the payment schedule, the obligor’s licenses, registrations or certificates, as the case may be, would be automatically denied, suspended or revoked.
This substitute is identical to Senate Bill No. 355 which was reported by the Senate Women's Issues, Children and Family Services Committee on January 22, 1996.
