ASSEMBLY LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 1225

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: MAY 13, 1996

The Assembly Local Government Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 1225.

Assembly Bill No. 1225 would prevent the employment for compensation of a member of the municipal governing body as a manager, ordinance administrator or chief executive officer of the municipality within one year subsequent to the termination of office of that member. The law currently provides for a similar restriction with regard to members of independent local authorities.

Assembly Bill No. 1225 was pre-filed for introduction in the 1996-1997 legislative session pending technical review. As reported by the committee, the bill contains the changes required by technical review which has been performed.
