ASSEMBLY LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 1353

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED: MARCH 3, 1997

The Assembly Local Government Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 1353.

As reported by the committee, the bill permits, at the discretion of the appointing authority of the county, a five-year term upon the reappointment of a county purchasing agent who has attained certification as a county purchasing official pursuant to the provisions of P.L.1981, c.380 (C.40A:9-30.1 et seq.). Currently, county purchasing agents are appointed for three-year terms.

The committee's amendments made permissive the introduced bill's requirement that, upon reappointment, the term of a certified county purchasing agent would be five years.

Assembly Bill No. 1353 was pre-filed for introduction in the 1996-1997 legislative session pending technical review. As reported by the committee, the bill contains the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
