STATEMENT

This bill would make services for students classified as communication handicapped in private non-public schools commensurate with the services offered in public schools. Currently, a handicapped student in a private school is only entitled to receive services for speech problems if he is classified as having an articulation disorder. This bill would expand the services provided to this type of student to include other communication disorders such as stuttering, voice and language. This bill also makes a technical correction to the statute which contained an incorrect reference to the handicapped classification statute.

Provides for services for handicapped students classified as communication handicapped in private schools.
